Welcome / Bienvenue / Ey Swayel to École Christine Morrison Elementary
École Christine Morrison is a dynamic, welcoming school that offers academic programs in both French and English, a strong vibrant music program and athletic opportunities that include a ski/snowboard program for students in Grades 5 and 6. We have a student population of approximately 400 students from across the district as we are one of the choice schools for the French Immersion Program. At ECME our students, staff and parents work together to ensure an optimum learning experience.
Safety, Trustworthiness, Accountability and Respect are the cornerstones of École Christine Morrison Elementary Code on Conduct. The students receive recognition through their S.T.A.R. acts and are highlighted at our monthly assemblies showcasing strong teamwork that is demonstrated throughout our school. Each assembly opens with our École Christine Morrison Welcome Song that is sung in English, French and Halq'emeylem which is accompanied by student drummers. Our Indigenous Liaison Workers bring a wide variety of cultural opportunities to our school community throughout the school year. Recently we hosted a Cultural Day, in which our students learned traditional arts and experiences from our district Indigenous Youth Workers.
We acknowledge that we work and learn on the Traditional, Ancestral, Unceded and Shared territories of the Sto:lo people, the Matheqwi, Sq'ewlets, Qwo:ltl'el and Leq'a:mel First Nations.
